End of the Season

Our Mets little league team lost for the second time in the tournament. Diamondbacks beat us 14-4...man, they are a goooooood team. Hope they win it all..then, we can say we lost to the eventual champs.

After winning the first two games in the tourney, we lost to the D-Backs, 6-2.

An emotional rematch with the Marlins was next. Mets won, 7-5...unbelievable game. Next to the championship we won 2 years ago, this was the most incredible game I was a part of.

Our season ended, as I said, last night. Great kids on the Mets this year! I can't wait til next year...I'll be managing the team!!!! Wish me luck.

Mets Win

After finishing third in the National Division, my kids' Little League team had some work to do in the tournament.

They won the first round game, and set up a showdown with the Marlins...very good team. They used a 4 run rally to beat us last month.

This did not happen last night. Mets beat the Marlins, 5-2.

We now move on to the 1st place Diamondbacks in the tournament. They are the best team in the league...wish us luck. A little defense, little hitting..and we've got a shot. Hopefully, the Mets are peaking!

KRITTER BOY

Here is my son, Noah. He is quite the kritter kid! He watches all the animal shows on cable..and I think he'll have his own show one day.

He found the brownish frogs that live in Wisconsin. He found them in the widow well, at my in-laws (his Papa and Grandma).

He also found this kritter...a salamander! I didn't know they existed in Wisconsin! I was thinking he'd find something like this in the Amazon. Well, welcome to Amazon, WI

Here's Hailey's turn on the blog! My five year-old, with a new friend. We're in the bird exhibit at the Milwaukee County Zoo. Pretty cool, as you get to give them food on a stick.

Only problem was many of the birds were up high. This is Hailey, after I had her on my shoulders for what seemed like forever! Finally, this guy came down.

I've found that this blog is a good way to keep ya up with our little league team.

Mets lost a tough one, 4-2 to a good Indians team last night. After winning 4-1 last week, against the Royals, that makes our record 1-1-1.

Noah played second and catcher, had a few hits. Lexi, after her outstanding debut with a double, has had problems at the plate. All a confidence issue. Girl, you'll start rockin it!

Hailey, my youngest, tells me I need to blog about her more. I feel guilty, because she is not old enough for little league. Few more years for her. She has to sit and watch (and snack on peanuts). She's been a trouper, even cheering with the kids in the dugout!

300 THE EASY WAY

I bowled in a fundraiser for Little League of West Allis over the weekend. Great turnout at AMF West Lanes!

Jess and I bowled with good friends Kelly and Eric Schroeder. Eric and I finished off 4 pitchers, which was the highlight.

Although, Tom Werner would disagree. He and his wife, Tracy, bowled with us on lane 30. Tom's son, Joey, was on my sons little league team 2 years ago. I didn't realize Tommy was a great bowler! He ripped off a good 1st game, 2nd one was just as good.

Flash forward to game 3. He rolls a perfect one! Well, it was a "9 Pin" tournament, which made it easy. But he only had about 4 frames where he hit 9.

Congrats to Tom! It was cool when he hit that last strike, which was legit!

Our school district has leased space to the Wisconsin State Fair. The school is almost 25 blocks from State Fair Park. Since space is limited at the Fair, my kids' school has rented out the playground. It allows farmers to park animal trailers on the playground....

Perfect Pump

Actor and comedian, Jerry Seinfeld coined the phrase in his American Express Card commercials... "Ah, perfect pump."

I love hittin' the pump at $10 or $20 on the nose. Happened again at the pump last week. Although, with gas prices the way they are, I hit $40 on the nose.

I've also noticed it's harder to let the handle go, and get that "Perfect Pump", since gas has gone over $3 a gallon. Even when I slow it down, it still jumps to .01 or .03 over. What the hell!

Good news: Gas is under $4 as I type. Will it stay that way???

My Bro's Wedding

My brother, John, got married this past weekend (June 7). Great time was had by all...even his dog, "Snickers" had a lot of fun. Here's "Snickers" sleeping off his fun night....on the bar!

They got married in Burnett, WI, at the Springbrook Chapel. Awesome setting for a wedding. The highlight for me, well one of two big highlights. The first being my daughters were in the wedding...pics yet to come. The second was the "open bar" my brother had. Not just free beer and soda, but everything behind the bar. Even though the weather didn't cooperate for the horse drawn carriage, it was a great night.

First Sports Injury

I've blogged about my son, Noah, before. He is on the Little League of West Allis defending champion Mets. We're young this season, but it's still fun to teach the kids and mold them into little ballplayers!

Last weekend during pre-game warm-ups, he took ball off his left eye. He had to have stitches and missed the game. I think he was more upset that he missed the game, than getting hurt.

Here's his mug the day after the injury, which required 8 stitches to close. Thank you, Children's Hospital...y'all did a great job.

He's competitive, and asked me how many stitches I had in my life. I told him I got four in my chin at age 6, and 6 in my upper lip...thanks to an Evil Knievel like stunt on my bike in 4th grade.

He said, "Well, I got 8 at one time. You've never had that many at one time. I win". Hopefully, I can say, "Well, I've had 10 in my life....and I win!"

I didn't catch it in a field...and no, we didn't find it wandering our garbage area. It's a 3-month old rat.

She named it "Touille"...from the title of the kids movie, Ratatouille. It's pronounced, "two-ee". I'm not sure how she'll spell it, but that's his name. I was apprehensive at first (so was my wife). But, the little guy is fun!

I've seen them on tailgates, rear hatches and other places on vehicles. Magnetic RIBBONS! The first ribbons I saw were to support the troops. Then the pink ribbons popped up. Now, it seems as though there are magentic ribbons for many things.

Some are positioned vertically, some on an angle. I've also caught a few with different designs.

In addition to the troops and breast cancer awareness, I've seen:

Alright! Another Gordon fan has asked that I post about his "Drive for 5"...which, should've been in 2004. That's the year NASCAR changed the points system. He had the lead, until the top ten got scrunched together. If the old system had been in place (like it was the year before when Matt Kenseth won), Gordon would've won his fifth Cup.

The same could be said for 2006. This year, could've been "Seventh Heaven". He could've been looking at tying Petty and Earnhardt for the most Cups. Unfortunately, he's going for number 5 this year.

Ok, I'm a Gordon fan. And yes, I want him to grab his fifth championship. But has the points system been fair? It's been exciting. But I'm not sure it's fair.

Hopefully, for Gordon fans....he wins number 5 this year. Not sure he'll be around long enough to pass Petty's record of 200 wins (he's got 81), but he may be able to tie or pass the 7 Championship record.

Emmitt Otter and Fraggle Rock

We talked about a kids video, from the late 1970's. It's called, "Emmitt Otter's Jugband Christmas." I don't remember it. I did a little research on it, and found it's a muppet themed show.

It reminds me of "Fraggle Rock". I think that show was around in 1982. It was an HBO kids show. The characters lived underground. It was a great show!

Bloggin Again/Phones in Church

It's been a few weeks, but I've been busy. Hope all is well with anyone who reads my blog (hi mom)

How many times is this going to happen? Cell phones going off in church. It never fails, a phone goes off each week. The preist doesn't say anything, but you know he ain'ta happy guy.

I am Catholic. The phones seem to go off at the most embarrassing times.

"Do this in memory of me"....is one part of our mass. Sure enough, I hear "Beethoven" in ring tone form go off at that moment.

How about when the preist is sitting quietly, just about to address the church crowd? You sure to hear, "Fanfare" at that moment.

Should people turn their phones off during church? Should they leave them in the car (like I do?) Is it really a matter of life and death if you miss a call?

How does your congregation deal with this?

We have a few cordless phones in our house. Seems like that's the norm these days. One in the kitchen, and one in our bedroom.

Guys, can you relate to the following??????

Anytime my wife uses the phone, it never winds up back in the kitchen. It could wind up in the laundry (and has, nice and clean), our little office, the kids room, outside, next to the TV remote, etc.

Thank God the makers created the "page phone" button. I'd never find the thing!

I've got a friend who's wife does the same thing...so, I'm not alone. Let me know any solutions to "find the phone"!!

High School Musical 2

It's almost here...and I can't believe the incredible hype it's getting. Sure, my wife and I got into the first HSM. And we've got Friday night blocked off from 7-9...but I never thought I'd hear about "Viewing Parties"!!

Scott's daughter is having one, including a sleepover. Many parents are hosting viewing parties. It's like the Super Bowl!!!!!

Anyone else doing the same thing? Let me know some of your idea's for viewing parties for High School Musical 2!

One mom already told me she's having a "Red Carpet" out in front of her house. The parents are dropping her kids off at the carpet out front. Her husband is posing as "security". She's going to video the kids as they pull up. Where is TV Guide Channel!?!?!?!?!?!!?

Cops? Try the First 48

I've got favorite shows...who doesn't? I love "The Office" and "Scrubs". But one show that's at the top of my list (and my wife's) is "The First 48" on A & E.

The show revolves around homicide detectives, and takes you through the first 48 hours after a murder is committed. That is the best chance police will nab someone...in the first 48 hours after the crime is committed.

The detectives are real...it's real life happening. Maybe that's why it's interesting. Maybe it's because I have a Police Science Degree...and feel I could do the work these detectives do. Who knows. I do know that it's a great show!

The cities featured include Miami, Dallas, Cincinnati, Memphis and Phoenix, just to name a few. You get to know the detectives from watching each week. It fascinates me that a nickname or dropped cell phone leads to the one "who done it".

Try watching a REAL cop show...watch an episode of "The First 48".

Wow! What a weekend! Noah's team won Friday night, 3-2. They went on to win on Saturday in the championship, 5-3!!

Met's win the 9th annual Little League of West Allis Minor Division championship!!!!!

It all comes down to tonight. Noah's "Mets" lost last night...good thing it's double elimination. They'll "Tee" it up again tonight...winner goes to the championship.

Decisions, decisions

Now that Noah's team is playing in the semi finals, I've got a problem. Seems my daughter, Lexi, has a "coach pitch" baseball game this Thursday. Same day as Noah's game. Same time as a matter of fact.

I need to be with Noah, as I run the pitching machine for our team in the West Allis Little League. Can't go to Lexi's game. My wife would like to watch our son in another tournament game. I feel she plays second banana to him when it comes to sports. Little League seems to tower over anything else. I feel horrible.

The good news, for my wife and I, is that Lexi wants to watch Noah play. She enjoys cheering. I'm not so sure that Noah would do the same. He LOVES to play. If Lexi had a soccer tourney game, he'd have a tough time skipping his game, to watch her.

How do parents handle this? We both want to be at the same game at the same time. Is it fair we discussed it with Lexi in the first place?

I thought once they got older, this stuff would be easy....

Edge of Your Seat

Noah's team won last night! Wow! They could charge admission for the excitement they gave the crowd in the last inning.

Of course, Noah leads off the last inning. Mets down 7-3. Yer thinking, "no way". They didn't come back. He gets a hit, as does the next batter. After two outs, the Mets smack 5 straight hits and take a 9-7 lead. It's not over yet, as the Padres have to bat in the bottom of the inning. They got a hit, and nothing else. We're on to the championship round.

Thrilling! Many folks said, "it was more exciting than a Packer game." For you sports fans, the 1969 Mets motto was: "You Gotta Believe"...and this team does!

I can't forget to post a pic of Hailey! Here we are swimming at our friends, Steve and Jen's house.

This also reminds me about the diving lessons. Noah and Lexi are both trying to learn to dive...we talked about it on the show this morning.

Great advice from our listeners...like starting with one knee down on the side. Makes it easy to bend and put the head first. Other ideas include diving through a round floatie, and diving for a quarter!

I'll update ya as the summer goes on. They should get it down. Any advice is appreciated!

Summer So Far!

Here's the latest from my son's first year in Little League. It's been quite a learning experience...for him and me! The season isn't over yet.

The Mets play tomorrow. It's a second round tournament game. Should be another nail biter.

But what if we lose? Noah is getting used to winning (his team so far is 13-2). After the two loses (including one to the team he's playing tomorrow), he was not happy. I haven't had to explain losing to him. T-ball and the rec department leagues don't keep score. Hopefully, I won't have to explain it to him anytime soon!

Vacation

That long awaited vacation I blogged about? Well, it's just about over. Don't you hate the night before going back to work? You sleep so sound the whole week you're off. Then, that night before going back, you couldn't sleep if your life depended on it.

Found a little info on that "last night of vacay sleep deprivation." If it helps you, great! I'll let you know if the following helped me.....

1. Wake up early on the day before you go back to work. You'll be tired at night, allowing you to hopefully fall and stay asleep.

2. Don't worry about work when you're trying to fall asleep. If you must let work creep into your head, do it during the day.

3. Avoid coffee and cola on the last day. Good luck.

Again, I'll let you know if these help. And let me know if you've got any other "back to work after vacation sleep techniques" of your own!

Life Revolves Around Kids

For those of you without kids, do not be alarmed. I still have my time, but lately the kids activities have ruled our house. But it's really cool. Can't tell you how exciting it is to see the kids play sports, and do well. Very rewarding.

Noah has finished the regular season of Little League. Mets are 12-2, and headed to the Tournament.

Lexi has started soccer and baseball, with her first games this week!

Hailey, as mentioned once before, is too young for sports. Her pride and joy is her baby doll collection. Before you know it, I'll be coaching her in 4 year old T-Ball...wow, just realized it's next summer!!!

I'm hearing Lia and Gabrielle (since mom is Vanessa, after Vanessa Hudgens, who plays Gabrielle in High School Musical).

Soccer, Baseball and Baseball...Oh My!

...just when I thought life was getting easier, the kids get involved in extra curricular activites!

My 6 year-old Lexi (that's her on the left), is on a soccer team AND baseball team this summer. It's nice for her to get attention, since my boy is in Little League, and gets the most sports attention.

I'm sure I'm like you, if you've got kids! She practices twice a week, with games twice a week as well. In addition, we've got the Mets in West Allis Little League for Noah.

By the way, the baby hamster is doing great. Mom built a new nest for the fuzzy little guy. Welcome to Radar's Hamster Farm!

Vacation Countdown

I'm sure everyone does this...the countdown to vacation. Few weeks, and I'll be able to chill.

I was barely home this weekend. Helped a good friend move, went to my niece's b-day party (out of town) and then had a cool Father's Day with the kids at my in-law's.

Vacay is only 2 weeks away. I won't think about how fast it will go, as time off always flies by. But it will be nice when it gets here!

Check it out...my son Noah, was playing some sort of game at home. The kids make up their own storylines, and use all sorts of stuff around the house for props. A sortment of pillows become a cage, the CD system in our (w)rec room is a communication system..you get the picture.

One episode had Noah hunting for "hippies". I heard him say, "I'm on the lookout for hippies."

I asked him if he knew what a hippie was.

He replied, "Yeah. Like a caveman. Long hair and beard."

I know, you're laughing as hard as I was right now.

Baby Hamster

My daughter's hamster Vanessa, just had a baby. Just one. How can this be, I wondered? The thing was "8 weeks old", according to the pet store. We had it two weeks, and she built a nest. We looked in the nest, and saw at least one baby.

I googled some info on hamsters, and found I have to wait 6 weeks before weaning the baby. The pet store said they'd take the baby, or babies back...but, it looks like Lexi will give the baby to her little sister, Hailey.

Back by popular (my wife's) demand, it's Radar's blog. Themoocrew.com had my blog for a while, but with everything we need to have on the site, I wasn't able to post all my stuff!

It's back, and I can tell ya about my kids activities. WOW! I thought, "the older they get, the easier it is." Nope.

Noah, my 8 year old, plays for the Mets in the West Allis Little League. Check him out after getting the game ball after his first game (way to go #5)!!

I'll have pictures of Lexi (who is 6, going on 15) and Hailey (who thinks she is 10, but she's really 3). Lexi will be in soccer AND baseball. Hailey will be in T-Ball next year. But, I'll get some action photo's of her!
